Merry Christmas!

December 23rd, 2009

From all of us at DCHelp and the rest of the DCEvolution network, we would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas (and, for everyone that celebrates other holidays, we hope you have [or had] an extremely happy holiday). In honor of Christmas, DCEvolution has brought you the “Twisted Christmas” package, a total conversion (TC) mod for Quake.

As we usher in the new year, we want you all to know that we are still alive and kicking, and we are still devoted to the Dreamcast. We will continue to produce high-quality (and probably some low-quality) CD images for your Sega Dreamcast, along with some new tutorials and tools throughout 2010 and hopefully for a long time to come. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year.

For anyone even remotely close to the Washington DC metropolitan area, I hope I will get to see you at MAGFest 8, as we spend three days doing nothing but playing video games, listening to music and enjoying a game-filled atmosphere.

DC Evolution is Back!

December 19th, 2009

After a few days out in the ether, DC Evolution has been resurrected again. We have moved the site to a new Web server and got it back up and running. Everything should be working properly again (and, hopefully since we’re on a new server, more reliable and fast). If you find something on the Web site that’s not working properly, please let us know by commenting on this post or by posting something in our forums.

Plan Your Halloween Night Around the Dreamcast

October 27th, 2009

Night of the Living DeadHalloween, one of our favorite holidays here at the DC Evolution network, is fast approaching. To help you celebrate the spooky occasion, we have put together a series of multimedia images for you to burn and enjoy.

So far, we have released five old (some of them are genuine classics), public domain horror films for you to watch on Halloween night (or whenever you want). I would suggest grabbing each of the images and burning them to CD, pulling out your Dreamcast (if it’s not already hooked up) and settling in for a spooktacular Saturday evening. Dress up as one of the zombies from Resident Evil or House of the Dead 2, watch some classic horror films and rock out some House of the Dead, Resident Evil: Codename Veronica, Quake III Arena or Carrier in between movies.

We’ll provide the movies, but you have to supply the popcorn, costumes and games for yourself. Read the rest of this entry »

DC Evolution on Facebook

October 11th, 2009

The DC Evolution network is now on Facebook. At this time, we’re using Facebook to show all of the news from DCHelp, the DC Evo Twitter account and the Dreamzone Boards. Please head on over to Facebook and become our fan. While you’re there, please let us know what you’d like to see on our Facebook page.

In the near future, we will probably be adding some of our favorite Dreamcast-related YouTube videos, adding some photos and adding some of the upcoming events in which we’re participating. If there’s anything else you think we should post on Facebook, let us know.

DC Evo Gets a Slightly New Look

October 2nd, 2009

Last weekend, we spent a little bit of time adjusting the layout of our sister site, DC Evolution. After realizing that less than 2% of our visitors are using 800×600 screen resolutions, and noticing that our layout was starting to get extremely cluttered, we expanded the viewing area a bit. In addition, we moved some things around and made the header area a little more consistent with DCHelp and the theme we’re currently testing at the DreamZone Boards.

Please share your thoughts with us about the new layout. Some time in the near future, we’ll probably be making some similar changes to DCHelp.

Welcome to the New DCHelp

Happy 10th Birthday DreamcastIn honor of the tenth birthday of the Sega Dreamcast, we are extremely proud to unveil the all-new version of this Web site. The tutorials have all been recreated, including new images and captions and repaired links (where appropriate). The SBI repository has been completely redeveloped, including the actual descriptions and screen shots from the SBI packages and the real date on which the BIN file was created/modified. The new site also includes an almost complete archive of the classic Dreamcast Weekly Magazine.

On top of all of that, our new Web site is now based on the popular Wordpress blog system, allowing us to more easily organize our content and allowing you to post your thoughts and comments. We hope you will stick around and renew some of the love we all have for our favorite video game console, the Sega Dreamcast.

Happy 10th Birthday, Dreamcast!
