But bad news for baseball fans as World Series Baseball 2K1 is pushed back a few weeks. Just a reminder too about your free game rental from Red Octane. It costs nothing to join, and every one of our readers has a coupon. Collect yours at http://redoctane.com/adux/freegamedreamcastweekly.html but you'll have to be quick because the offer runs out this Thursday. Unfortunately not every issue of Dreamcast Weekly goes well. Very sorry to our readers, but this week our cover feature got delayed (but it will be in the next issue), and our Q&A man had to leave town and just got back. So this issue is a little short, but we've still got a preview of AM2's answer to Quake III, Outtriger, and a little Q&A. Next week we'll have a full issue once again, including great news for Dreamcast gamers down under, and finally... we're starting to work on something huge for the 100th issue. HOT QUOTE from this issue: "Since a few months ago when we reported Dino Crisis was coming to the Dreamcast, everything has been quiet on the subject. Until now." -- The Weeks News - Page 3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ((( COVER STORY ))) | Page 2 | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >>>> Outtrigger Preview - Written by Andy Cooper Here comes the Dreamcast version of AM2's excellent, yet poorly received arcade shooter, Outtrigger. You'll take control of a meaty, buffed up soldier hell bent on 'fragging' the crap out of everyone else in the arena. You'll be hurling yourself out of the claustrophobic, beautiful arenas at lightning speeds, and although the Dreamcast is lacking the joystick and trackball setup that suited the arcade so well, the passable, if slightly clunky controller setup won't restrict you too much, but Sega have made the clever decision to include mouse and keyboard support. Gunning down your friends (who also happen to be your enemies) has been made easy enough for you, as you'll be able to wrap your sweaty hands around the triggers of grenade launchers, machine guns, rail guns, sniper rifles, missiles, flame throwers and Star Trek-esque Photon Torpedoes. On top of this, there are some cool special items to grab scattered around the arenas, ranging from mundane health and weapon power ups, to night and thermo vision (the latter allowing you to see through walls and scenery). And you can kill your friends in multiple ways, too. Choose to go the way of the split screen, and it'll be you and up to three friends filling one another with hot lead. Or take it the more interesting way, and shoot the crap out of three people you can't even see, thanks to the wonderful invention that is Seganet. Sounds like a glorified Quake III or Unreal Tournament clone? Well, yes, maybe it is, but it's being made by Sega, and you can take it into the realms of 3rd person, ala the upcoming Spawn game or the cheesy cheat you could put into Duke Nukem 3D on the PC. Also, this ain't no dark, moody game like most FPS are, oh no, most of the levels take place outside, during the day, and your targets have huge, bright shapes around them notifying you of their position, just like the Virtua Cop series, as well as many other additions that'll make sure you don't run into any disemboweled corpses hanging from the walls, like so many other games of the genre. Instead of Military Instillations, Alien planets and abandoned Churches, you'll be shooting up the opposition in a Library, Castle (and surrounding area), Train Station, Observatory, Art Museums and many more. There were 12 locations in the arcade, and the good boys at AM2 are adding more for the home conversion of the game. You can take control of Alain, Jay, Lina or Talon, and the extremely weak plot of the game see's you competing for an opening into a counter- terrorist group Interforce. Like that matters. The aim of the game is simple: Destroy all other people running around, unfortunately, it's not that simple, because they're all out to do the same thing to you. Ok, so you've got some kick ass weaponry, cool levels and speedy gameplay. Just to add an extra edge to the gameplay, most of the weapons can provide a one hit kill, making quick evasive tactics necessary. If four characters isn't enough, the folks at AM2 are putting in a Character Edit mode where you can choose the color of your characters outfit, the type of weapon they carry, and tweak many other attributes such as attack power and mobility. If this is implemented well, it could become a cool new fad between gamers, if not, it might just become another gimmick used once, and never used again. But if anyone'll get it right, it'll be AM2. In the single player aspect of the game, it's basically hide and seek, with you 'removing' the other characters from existence, and completing a specific objective. For example, you might have to kill all the enemies on the level before they kill you. It's not exactly rocket- science, but it's good fun. Of course, that's not the aspect of the game you want to be playing, multiplayer is where it's at. Four player is where it's at. Seganet is where it's at. You'll have the choice of Team Battle or simple Death Match, both of which will keep a decent framerate up while you're blasting away over the internet. Also, there'll be regional rankings and your standard chatrooms/forums to accompany the game. Although the game didn't pull in the crowds in the arcades, it was a big hit at E3, and as it's been developed using Sega's Naomi hardware in the Arcades, the home conversion will more than likely be very, very accurate. Hopefully Sega and AM2 will see fit and bung tons of extra goodies in with the game before it ships, as the current longevity factor of the game may be questionable. Outtrigger will be available later this year. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ((( THE WEEKS NEWS ))) | Page 3 | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >>>> Dino Crisis Coming To Dreamcast Since a few months ago when we reported Dino Crisis was coming to the Dreamcast, everything has been quiet on the subject. Until now. This week Capcom have confirmed the news that a port of Dino Crisis is coming to the Sega Dreamcast, and coming very soon. The hit game is due to be released in Japan on September the 6th. While it's not clear if this is a port of the PC version or a conversion built to take full advantage of the Dreamcast, we'll have more details soon. >>>> Sega Delays Play For World Series Baseball World Series Baseball 2K1 has been delayed again. This time Sega haven't given a release date, but insiders expect it will be launched in late July or early August. It seems the game wasn't quite up to the standard Sega has set for themselves with NBA and NFL 2K, so a little fine tuning is being worked on as we speak. So gamers have to wait a few more weeks before getting their hands on this instant hit, but hopefully the final product will be bug free. >>>> Sega Back In Bussiness After years of losses, Sega is finally making some profit. Thanks in a large part to several cost cutting measures, such as making each AM team independent, things are looking up for Sega this year. A 1,500,000,000 yen net profit has been reported by several sources in Japan for the first quarter, which is great news compared to the net less of 42,900,000,000 yen from last year's first quarter. But what do those rather large numbers mean in US dollars? Well the loss from last year is around $290,000,000 and the profit from this year is about $10,000,000. Lets hope this increase in good news for Sega continues throughout the rest of 2000. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ((( PRIMA GAMES CORNER ))) | Page 4 | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >>>> Your Own PrimaGames.com Browser!
