They will be packed with the Gozailla game of course, and priced at between US$25 and US$35. > > > SEGA SATURNS LAST GOOD BUYS This Friday (17th July) Shining Force III: Part 1 gets released in Europe. Followed later by Deep Fear (18th September). Those are the 2 final offical games to be released in Europe... with 1 year to wait until the Dreamcast. > > > MORE DEVELOPERS JOIN SEGA'S SUPER CONSOLE This week the following developers joined in... * Koei Games - Romance of Three Kingdoms 6 * Ocean - Outcast * Human Entertainment - Sports Games * Banpresto - Japan Game Company Also we have info on "Naughty Dog - famed for Crash Bandicoot" on our web site. > > > MICROSOFT SHOW THERE WEIGHT Recently, at the Windows World Expo in Tokyo, Japan Microsoft set up a Dreamcast booth displaying the shell of the console -- just like Sega did back at the DC unveiling. However, this time around the console had a gray Microsoft CE logo on it. A Microsoft spokesman told Game Spot news that the system would ship with that Windows CE logo. Also Microsoft has now confirmed that a version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer will be coming with the Dreamcast. With your Dreamcast in Japan (note that the US version will be different) is a "hybrid version of IE 4.0, optimized for Dreamcast use, and with full graphical interfaces for internet commerce." This is intresting, because as a Sega 2000 reader, Backlashe pointed out.. "If I get an import Dreamcast system, will I be able to use and understand the IE 4.0 that comes with it and will there be a problem with me using the modem over here?" Sega's network plans arn't clear at the moment... but I would say you could use the modem in the same way as Net Links. But for the IE 4.0, that will be made for Japanesse people, not for the US. So will importers lose out on the on-line gaming? I've contacted both Sega and Microsoft about it and hopefully I will have some of an idea soon. We have more information about the US Dreamcast on the Sega 2000 site. > > > DREAMCAST PACK IN GAME REVEALED Next Generation Magazine thinks they have uncovered the pack-in game that would be shipped with the Dreamcast. In the latest installment of their magazine, Next Generation said that the space-shooter, which was shown at the pre-E3 press conference, would be the packaged game with the Dreamcast. This is yet to be confirmed and Sega isn't talking. We will let you know as soon as we find out more about this. Something I do wounder about however, is why the shooter ins't one of the 5 offical launch games... but Sega did say they have more, origanal games to launch with aswell. _ _ _/ \____ Feature _______________________________________/ \_/ In this age of DVD, Bump Mapping, Tri-Linear Filtering and super tri-zonk diff matching (he he) its easy to not understand some of todays techonolgy. So we will try our best to explain different things to the people who don't know. We explain it simply, with more complex bits in brackets. If you have any questions, suggestions for topics or comments just e-mail me on madcow@ihug.co.nz --- Part 1: DVD We've all heard of DVD, its a different type of CD-ROM... but is it better? Why? Whats the difference? DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disk. This is because the format, although initially used as a home video medium, has a wide variety of potential applications.DVD Video discs are the same size as traditional compact discs, but they can do much more. A single DVD Video disc can hold an entire movie on one side while bringing together the high-quality, digital surround sound of compact discs with crisp, high-resolution video. Since DVD Video was first launched in early 1997, it has surpassed industry expectations and is quickly becoming the most successful new technology launch since compact discs were introduced. It will allow games to be distributed on DVD format. The higher capacity will allow better graphics and more sophisticated games to be designed. DVD is a format based on the compact disc. It is 5 inches in diameter and can have two layers on each side. What this means is by changing the focus of the laser that is reading the disc slightly, a layer below the surface layer can be accessed. This increases the storage capacity, especially when you consider that DVD can be double sided as well. You can store approximately 133 minutes of video on one layer. But the Dreamcast dosn't use DVD... well, here are the advantages and disadvantages... * Speed (the rate it transfers data from your CD to Dreamcast) - Here is the 2 options Sega had for there Dreamcast > > > CD-ROM - 12 Speed (actual rate is 1800 Kbytes/second) > > > DVD - 1 Speed (actual rate is 1350 Kbytes/second) > > > CD-ROM - 640mb to 1000mb (1 Gbyte) > > > DVD - 4700mb (4.7 Gbyte) > > > CD-ROM - On adverage $1 to produce 1 CD > > > DVD - On adverage $2 to produce 1 DVD CD The video quality on DVD is as good as your TV, and with the extra space its easy to fit lots of it on to the disk. On CD's however, you can choose the qaulity of your video, meaning if the machine (Dreamcast) can handle it, you can have TV qaulity with CD's aswell. And the Dreamcast can handle it (the SH-4 chip easily does). _ _ _/ \____ IMPORTant Matters _____________________________/ \_/ Looking for a place to buy your VMS? * http://www.buyrite1.com/dreamcas/dream.html * * "The Dreamcast Visual Memory System (VMS) acts as a memory card and also doubles as a portable digital pet. Simple! I look forward to hearing from ya! ------------------------------------------------------------- > > > "Nintendo/Sony/Sega Arguments" PART 2... I really like this magazine and it definitely deserves all the accolades!! But, I would like to respond to Maarten Bakker's letter in issue 7! First of all, Maarten's real name is many faces! One minute he's telling you how arguing over which system is the best is stupid, then later states how great his n64 is and how Sega sucks! What an idiot, a biased idiot that is!!! I surely hope he ownes all three next-gen systems(sat,psx,n64) to back up his comments! I doubt it! Now, I own all three systems and the one I'm least disappointed with is the PSX. However, I do like all three companies! The more competition the better! Now, I'm really excited about the Dreamcast because it's the next piece of technology we're able to get our hands on. I'm sure Sony, Nintendo, and even VMlabs will follow with something new. What I'm trying to say is that the consumer is usually interested in something new, regardless of the brand name whether they admit it or not! Well in this case it's the Dreamcast, it's powerful, it's from Sega, and it's going to kick some ass!!!! Oh, I'll definitely settle for arcade perfect ports of VF3, Scud Racer, Sega Rally 2, because Model 3 looks good enough! Anyways, I'll be looking forward to another great issue! - N Sisbarro > > > "Nintendo/Sony/Sega Arguments" PART 3... In your Sega 2000 magazine this last time around you had some Nintendo/Sony/Sega arguments thing that had some stupid immature ramblings of ignorant hipocritical people who blatently show that they know absolutly nothing about the Video Game industry or of the workings of computer technologies. I laughed my ass off, they should feel ashamed of themselves for writing that. I wonder if the guy who wrote that first one would see just how much of a hipocrite he sounded like if he read over that again. Man was that funny. No offense to anyone I hope though for my comments. - Justin _ _ _/ \____ Web Sites _____________________________________/ \_/ If you have a web site you want here, just e-mail me on madcow@ihug.co.nz > > > Dreamcast Square - http://members.xoom.com/DCSquare Its coming soon! - Why not subcribe to there mailing list now... > > > Videogames NZ - http://www.VideoGames.co.nz If you live in NZ like me, this is a good place to be. > > > Game Fusion - http://www.gamefusion.com Opened just today, and looking good.
